ZOO Wallet Privacy Policy
Effective 30 September 2026
ZOO Wallet is a browser extension for holding and sending Zcash, made by ZOO AI ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the wallet does with information. The short version: we do not collect your personal information, we do not have accounts, and we never have your keys, recovery phrase, password or funds.
What stays on your device
Everything the wallet needs to work is stored in your browser, on your device:
- your recovery phrase, encrypted with your wallet password;
- your wallet records, including viewing keys, balances, payment history and addresses, stored locally and not encrypted with that password in this version;
- your settings.
We cannot see, access or recover any of it. If you remove the extension or lose your device, this information is gone from that browser, and only your recovery phrase can restore your wallet.
What leaves your device
To show your balance and send payments, the wallet has to talk to the Zcash network through a light server. By default it uses a light server we operate, at lwd.zooko.ai. When the wallet connects, that server receives:
- your IP address, as any internet server does;
- requests for blockchain data, which can include your public (transparent) Zcash addresses;
- the payments you send, so they can be passed to the Zcash network.
The server needs no account and does not know your name. We keep no logs of your use of the wallet: our server does not record your IP address, your addresses or the payments you send, and keeps nothing about a request once it has answered it. Traffic reaches our server through Cloudflare, which provides its network connection and handles that traffic under its own privacy policy. If our server is unavailable or behind the network, your requests, which can include your IP address, are passed to zec.rocks, a public Zcash light server run by a third party with its own practices.
Payments on Zcash are recorded on a public blockchain. Payments between shielded addresses hide the amount and addresses; payments involving public (transparent) addresses are visible to anyone.
What we do not do
- No accounts, sign-up or email.
- No logs of your IP address, your addresses or your payments.
- No analytics, tracking, advertising or cookies.
- No sale of data, and no use of data for credit or lending decisions.
- The wallet does not read your browsing activity or other websites.
Links to other sites
The wallet may show links, for example to a block explorer. If you open one, that website's own privacy policy applies.
Children
ZOO Wallet is not intended for anyone under 18.
Changes
We may update this policy. The effective date above shows when it last changed. Continuing to use the wallet after a change means you accept the updated policy.
